What is Adina House like?

About Adina

Adina is a carer respite program of Mental health Carers Arafmi Queensland.

By carer we mean a person who provides ongoing emotional and practical support to a relative or a friend who is living with a mental illness. We assist carers by providing support to the person with a mental illness while the carer has a break, facilitating a time for everyone to rejuvenation.

Adina offers the following support options:

·         Planned short term breaks at Adina House.

·         Flexible support options for unforseen events such as ill health of a primary carer.

·         Participation in community activities and events.

·         Opportunities to participate in other Arafmi programs, e.g, carer support groups and carer workshops.

What is Adina House like?

Adina is a beautiful single storey home located within a quiet street at Narangba and is within walking distance to the local shops and public transport. The house offers a warm welcoming atmosphere, providing opportunity to relax and reenergise. There are four spacious individual guest bedrooms and a number of lounge areas, including a media room. All meals are provided and staff are on site 24 hours a day.

Who can use this Program?

Eligibility is determined by the following criteria:

·         You need to be an unpaid carer. (You can be receiving a carer payment)

·         The person you care for must have a mental illness as their primary diagnosis and be between 18-65 years old.

People may refer themselves or can be referred by a family member, friend, health or other professional, please contact Adina Family Support Program during business hours for more information.

Adina is an indigenous word meaning “pleasant”

We aim to meet the needs of both carers and guests by giving carers time to themselves to focus on their own physical, social and emotional needs while providing recovery based focused support to the guests staying at Adina.
